Nine months and counting

Here is Daisy trying to crawl at the Science Museum a couple of weeks ago. She's not quite there yet but is doing her best. I'm enjoying her lack of mobility for the short time it remains! She has also just started trying to stand up by pulling herself up on things although she's got a way to go before that is mastered.

You can't tell from this photo but she has six big teeth and I think another two may have come through in the past few days but she won't let me near her mouth to find out for sure. And in another big step, as Daisy is now a big nine month old she is no longer a vegetarian. She had chicken for the first time the other night. Unfortunately she had been right off her food for about the past week (sore teeth I think) but things seem to be improving.

We've been really busy of late and time is flying by. The clocks went back at the weekend so it feels like winter is drawing near. We are still having some beautiful days so are making the most of them by being out and about whenever possible. Who would have thought life could be so busy keeping one small girl amused!

Finally got things working. As you can see from the presence of tights, hats and hoods, things have gotten pretty autumnal. Although we've still had some lovely days. Time for yoga now!

We've been a bit of a house of illness and woe lately. Even Daisy has come down with a cold although she has coped better than Andy and I! We are all feeling much better now thank goodness. We are about to head out to Sing and Sign classes but Oliver has requested some photos so here they are. Ahhh, no they aren't, the photo upload isn't working, bugger. Photos later!

Poorly soldier

Daisy isn't very well at the moment. She woke up this morning all sniffly and has gotten worse all day so she's now a sneezy little snot box. On top of that she seems to have a touch of the nasty tummy bug which resulted in a noisy incident on the train home today. Poor Daisy, I won't embarrass her by going in to details.

She had been very brave despite her woe so we were able to enjoy a nice visit to Windsor today to visit Grandma Julia. It was her longest train journey so far to get there - a whole 48 minutes - and it went very well apart from when she got over excited looking out and banging on the window and head butted it. Oops. When we arrived in Windsor we tracked down a Starbucks where Daisy had her lunch then she went to sleep and we headed to Carluccio's where I had my lunch. Once Julia arrived we checked out the castle. Daisy was fascinated by the castle police's big guns and I made sure to point out their handcuffs and have a talk to her about what happens to naughty babies. Obviously once we had the sightseeing done with we went shopping. Windsor has good shops!

Yesterday we went to town for lunch with Andy which was good as always. Daisy is always very pleased to see her Daddy during the day so it's a nice treat for her. And me.

Daisy had her 8 month check up on Wednesday afternoon. Her measurements were done and she is doing well. She is on about the 40th percentile (bigger than 40% of babies) for weight, on the 75th percentile for head circumference and on the 98th percentile for length. Go the long legs! Obviously she gets them from me....not. I got her a helium balloon for being such a good girl during her check up which she loved playing with.

The Wellington

We had a good day out on Sunday. We went to Gabriel's Wharf for lunch with Dave, Ragani, Ness, Glen and Bob then spent the afternoon in The Wellington pub having a few drinks and watching football. Daisy enjoyed hanging out on the couch with the girls at the Wellington and also enjoyed all the attention!

We went to our first Sing and Sign class on Monday which was fun. Most of the other babies are a bit older than Daisy and are all crawling so she looked like she was feeling a bit left out sitting on her own whilst all the others crawled around making friends. However, after half an hour of watching the crawling intently she toppled herself over and held herself up on her hands and knees, swaying a bit but looking very pleased with herself. Good girl!

Things went downhill on Monday night as I was up all night throwing up with a tummy bug. I've been feeling pretty rubbish since but Grandma Julia is here today which will help. Poor Daisy doesn't understand why I'm avoiding her but I'd rather that than she got sick too.

Sorry...

...I've been tres slack on the blogger front. My only excuse is that Daisy has been (let's put this nicely) rather hard work of late and I'm knackered! I'm not sure if it's teething or just a stage she is going through but it's all about constant entertainment at the moment. I'm doing my best to be an all singing dancing fun mummy but it gets a bit trying at times. I have managed some off time though. Grandma Madge and Granddad Bob visited for a weekend and helped keep Miss Daisy amused. I had a wonderful wonderful wonderful day at The Sanctuary Spa in Covent Garden courtesey of the lovely girls who got me a voucher for my baby shower. Yes, it's taken me that long to organise a day sans baby! Grandma Julia got Daisy'ed for the day whilst I blissed out. I also had a great night out with work. It was fab seeing everyone and made me realise (yet again) how much I miss it.

On the plus side, Daisy gets cuter and more characterful by the day and loves charming people. She's learning to vocalise (loudly) is doing her best to crawl although she's yet to co-ordinate her shoulders and bottom up at the same time. She's also getting better at eating with her current favourite being leek, potato and watercress puree. Although it's fair to say that she always manages to eat more of pudding (fruit) than she does her vegetables.

Baby about town - and it's a photo fest!

It's been all go this week. I can't believe it's only Wednesday! Yesterday's yoga session was particulary streneous and I'm VERY sore today. I never want to hear the words 'yogic push up' again. Urgh. After yoga we decided to forgo the pub and a nice bottle of rose for It's a Kid's Thing. We had lunch there and played with the babies in the soft play area. Cripes it's loud there, screaming children galore. Still, the babies love it. The mummies might prefer the pub though...

This morning Daisy and I caught the train in to town and had a lovely sightseeing walk from Waterloo to Soho. We checked out the South Bank and Big Ben, took in the great skyline views of St Paul's and the Gerkin from Hungerford Bridge, roared at the lion statues and chased a few dirty pigeons in Trafalgar Square then stopped for Daisy's lunch on the grass at Leicester Square. After lunch we took in China Town and Soho then with Daisy happily snoozing we met Andy for lunch at Mildred's. After lunch we went to Hamley's which is where Daisy woke up. Oh the excitement! Not only did she wake up to discover daddy was there, she was in Hamley's! Seven floors of toys! Dollies galore! We bought Daisy a dolly, which we've called Molly and she loves it. As soon as Molly was out the box she gave her three big kisses. Then bit her. A sure sign of baby approval. Andy headed back to work and Daisy I went for coffee at Golden Square, sat in the sun for a while, checked out the Rainforest Cafe then headed back to Waterloo. We got home just in time for Daisy's dinner. Two courses tonight, she's really getting the hang of this eating thing.
