Two little ones are certainly keeping us on our toes. Actually, Zack's been an angel but Daisy is needing a LOT of attention. Luckily, she still adores Zack and is wonderful with him but she clearly (and rightfully) blames me for her sudden change in circumstance. It's a good job she has Grandma Julia around to keep her happy and give her plenty of cuddles because she often won't let me near her. I really feel for her poor little munchkin but ooo it's hard work!

Zack is doing really well, plenty of eating and sleeping. I just can't believe how easy he is really, I keep waiting for the newborn nightmare to kick in but so far so good. He's going to have to be pretty bomb proof with his adoring big sister always bouncing up unexpectedly in his face to kiss him. He's amazing laid back and really is one of those old soul babies, quite happy gazing about quietly. He's a big snuggler which is lovely and means I don't even mind the middle of the night feeding sessions. Ahhh.

Daisy rounded off the hat trick of January birthdays in our family by turning TWO today. Hurrah! We celebrated yesterday with presents and cake while Andy was home but she got lots more presents this morning and we are having a party with her friends soon. Lucky girl. She's a bit unsettled and quick to cry at the moment but she's doing really well with such a huge change and is so sweet with Zack. She's always kissing and stroking him and cooing 'sweet'. She also loves cuddling him on her knee and has made attempts to breast feed him. Oops!

Things are going really well. Zack is adorable and snuggly and cuddly and we are finding things much easier the second time round. Much less nerve racking although he still feels tiny. He's a very hungry little chap and spends most of his time eating but he rarely cries as a result and I'm managing to get some sleep. I'm finding the cesarean recovery much easier than after Daisy's natural birth which is a relief. My movement has been a bit more restricted but I've been in considerable less pain which makes everything easier. The hospital experience was really positive and they took very good care of us which got us off to a good start.

Time for Daisy's bath already, two certainly are keeping us busy!

Zachary Ellis

We've decided on Zachary Ellis or Zack for short.

Mother and baby are still doing well. I am so proud of them both.

Bec has been amazing, and seems to be pretty much recovered already. She has done such a good job carrying Daisy and Zack, then delivering two perfect & beautiful little ones safely. I wouldn't want to be pregnant for 18 months of my life that is for sure.

Zack seems to be great, he has been very sleepy today but we know that will change.

Here is another photo of Zack with his big sister. She has been so good with him, and she has already claimed him as "my baby".

New Addition

Beautiful baby boy 3.17KG - born 8.40am 20 January 2008 at American Hospital, Dubai.

We've not decided on a name just yet.

Little ladybird

We've just been to Sanna's 2nd birthday party which had the theme 'Favourite Animals'. I was unable to find a penguin costume for Daisy so she had to settle for going as a ladybird. Cute!

It's been a weird week in Dubai. First pretty much the entire city was shut down thanks to a visit from George Bush. Although in typical Dubai style the decision to close everything was only made the night before. Not that I'm complaining, Andy got to spend the day at home and we had a very lazy day at home as all the roads were shut. The next strange event was four days of record January rainfall resulting in spectacular flooding. It's really not designed for rain here, the roads aren't on a camber, there isn't a storm drainage system and lots of buildings aren't waterproof. Carnage! There has been a pretty good job done with the cleanup but there are still plenty of submerged cars and buses around. We've stayed safe and dry though and it's been quite exciting for Daisy who didn't remember rain. She did lots of looking at the sky and yelling 'wet, wet!'

We are prepared as we can be for the imminent arrival of the new baby. Julia has been here a week and is settled in, the nursery is ready, the hospital bags are packed and and we've done our best to prepare Daisy. I've found a new obstetrician with two working arms who comes highly recommended and we've visited the hospital which was very nice. All systems go! Gulp.

Rubbish.

I'm miserable after the news that my obstetrician has broken her arm and can't do my delivery. Or should that be the baby's delivery? Anyway, considering I'm now full term and could go in to labour any day I'm in a panic trying to find someone. Woe.
