Snuggler

Daisy may now be a big three month old but when she snuggles up for a snooze like she did this morning it reminds me that she's still only little really.

We had lunch at Chris, Annette and Thomas's with Flob and Julia yesterday. Daisy seemed a bit out of sorts and needed lots of cuddles which didn't make for easy lunching. We still managed to have a very nice lunch though. Rhubarb crumble for pudding. Mmmm.

Ruth and Mick came round for dinner last night. Daisy stayed up to say hello then went to bed without too much trouble. It's great that she generally sleeps so well in the evening as it lets us relax and have a few drinks.

Shock horror, it's not a Daisy pic!

I've been very slack on the camera front this week so I've put on a photo of me and Granddad from a very long time ago. Note how Daisy looks nothing like me as a baby. I bet she looks like Andy did as a baby though.

We had a good day today. Laura arrived back from NZ yesterday (yay!) so we met her for lunch at GBK on Northcote Road. Daisy decided there was too much going on for her to sleep so kept us busy.

Daisy celebrated becoming a big three month old yesterday by starting on a 2pm bottle. Luckily, she's been happy to take a bottle at that time and on both days she has had it so far has guzzled down a huge amount. It's certainly made my afternoons easier and I've been making sure she has had plenty of extra cuddles so she doesn't feel like she is missing out.

Brave little soldier

Here is Daisy bravely showing off one of the plasters on her legs. The actual injections yesterday weren't as bad as the first lot - especially as it was Andy, not me holding her! The first one was fine but she had a good scream after the second. The most upsetting thing was that before each jab she was smiling winningly at the nurse who then shoved a needle in her leg. Not fair! I slept in her room last night in case she was sick. She was a bit restless but still managed nearly 12 hours sleep. Which was a lot more than I got as I was anxiously listening for any sounds of spewing (which thankfully never came)!

We also had a very nice lunch at the Box Bar with the NCT girls and babies yesterday. They were very good about us turning up with five babies and buggies. However, I was still relieved they didn't see Daisy spew on the (luckily wooden) floor. Oops!

Daisy has her second round of injections this afternoon. Uh oh. It's Anzac day today so I might have to make some Anzac biscuits to cope with the trauma.

12 hours!

Daisy has been really enjoying facing forward in her baby bjorn. Here she is this afternoon ready to go out for coffee then a walk.

Yesterday was a glorious day, it was like summer had arrived early. Andy spent the afternoon watching Harlequins win against Bedford at Twickenham. Not sure if it made him feel any better about Chelsea getting knocked out the FA Cup by Liverpool though. Julia was here and we had a lunchtime trip to the garden centre then spent the afternoon at home sitting in the garden. Daisy even had her lunch at the picnic table. Last night was her best night ever as she slept from 7.15pm to 7.20am this morning. Woohoo!

Despite her being great at night allowing me to get plenty of sleep I'm constantly exhausted at the moment. I think it's because there has been a big increase in how much she is eating (in quantity, not frequency) so it's just my body getting used to the extra energy demands. I hope it gets used to it soon.

Daisy is having big leaps developmentally at the moment. As adoring parents, each little achievement is very thrilling for us although I'm sure dull for others! She is much more interested in playing which is fun. She is also crying less and less although she's still not adverse to pulling a big bottom lip when not happy!

Floor dancer

Daisy got very excited about her new quilt yesterday and celebrated by having a good dance on it. She was a little grizzler all afternoon and must have worn herself out with her grumpiness as she slept from just after 7.30pm last night until just before 7am this morning. Yay! We had a nice dinner and a few drinks to celebrate Andy's birthday which was lovely.

This morning was slightly traumatic as a serious nappy malfunction resulted in Daisy ending up face down in a cold empty bath being washed down with a cold shower - it was cold as it's useless rather than being cold cause I'm mean. The poor little mite was so shocked that she didn't even cry, instead just yelled indignantly the whole time. I felt like the meanest mummy in the world.

We've just been for a walk through Wandsworth Common to Northcote Road. It's so warm today that we didn't even have to take coats. Very nice!

Happy Birthday Andy!

Here's a self portrait of us from storytime on the floor earlier today. Very brave of me to have such a close up photo (especially with no makeup) at my age.

It's Andy's birthday today and Daisy helped me make a cake this afternoon by sleeping in her pram in the conservatory. She's been very good this week at having her lunchtime sleep at home. On Tuesday and Wednesday she slept in the garden for two hours each time which let me get lots done so it's looking much better out there. It makes a huge difference not always having to go walking to get her to sleep at lunchtime. Although it means I've got no more excuses for being a slovenly housewife. Uh oh, better get the marigolds out.

Easter bunny

Daisy celebrated Easter Sunday by wearing an outfit and booties with bunnies on them accessorised with smears of chocolate all over her. I even found chocolate behind her ear. Piggy mummy!

We've just gotten back from a very nice (as always) lunch at Chris, Annette and Thomas's. Thomas has recently started solids and gave us a great demonstration of how to blow raspberries with mouthfuls of food. Go Thomas!

I'm not looking forward to Andy going back to work tomorrow. It's been really nice to spend four days together and Daisy has been a very happy little girl with both of us around.

Mildred's

Daisy made her first trip to Mummy's favourite restaurant Mildred's. She was a very good girl and had lots of people cooing over her and her super cute pink dress.

We did a bit of shopping around Soho with Daisy strapped into the baby bjorn forward facing. I don't think she'd ever seen so many people, as her eyes were wider than ever walking down Carnaby Street.

It took less than 30 minutes to drive into Soho and park up right in the centre of town. London traffic eh? However parking is a different matter, £20 for less than 4 hours, youch!

Happy Easter

We are staying in London for Easter and Good Friday kicked off with Andy getting up at 6.30am to go and play golf with Chris. Me and Daisy started the day much more leisurely with breakfast in bed. In the afternoon we went for a classic holiday weekend outing - a trip to B&Q. We got a lovely trolley full of plants for the garden - no prizes for guessing this year's colour scheme. It's pink. Again. It's really nice having Andy around during the day and Daisy just loves her daddy being home. I wish every weekend was a long one!

Not much to report today but I took the above laughing sequence pics of Daisy on her change mat this morning and thought they warranted a post. She certainly found something funny!

Had a very nice afternoon with the NCT girls and babies. Daisy is doing loads of dribbling (attractive!) and agitatedly rubbing her gums so I was getting a bit worried that she might be an early teether. She would have found herself on the bottle quicker than you can say ouch but lucky for her the other babies are much the same so I'm figuring they can't all be early teethers and it's just something they do. Phew!

Peekaboo!

Daisy seems to have alternating good days and not so good days which is a bit bizarre. She was hard work yesterday - didn't sleep much at all and spent most of the day either unhappy or VERY unhappy. I really feel sorry for her when she is like that as she must be feeling pretty rubbish to spend the whole day upset. I have to say that by the end of days like that I'm normally feeling pretty sorry for myself as well. On the good days I love being at home with her but on the bad, even the world's most cross Times reader would be a welcome break!

She's still wonderful sleeping at night but some nights it's a bit more work to get her to sleep so it's a work in progress. It's unusual for her to be awake after 8pm or before 6.30am so I'm certainly not complaining. However, this morning was one of those unusual days as she woke up at 6am. I was really tired so took her to our bed to feed during which time we both fell asleep and didn't wake up until 8am. Yay! She must have been pretty tired to fall asleep face first in her breakfast. She has been lovely and happy since which is very nice.

Baby Angel

Daisy has really earned her angel wings today by being a perfect baby. She woke at 7am for breakfast, happily played in our bed for an hour afterwards then feel asleep in the middle of bed at 8.30am for TWO HOURS! Hence we didn't have to get up until 10.30am - a lovely Sunday morning lie in. Her morning sleep normally only lasts about 40 minutes so it was a very nice surprise. I was a bit worried that it is was going to mean her not being tired tonight but her lunchtime sleep (which is normally about 2 hours) only lasted 40 minutes so she just swapped them. Which she is more than welcome to do every Sunday! She spent her normal lunchtime sleeping time happily sitting on Andy's knee at Cafe Nero which was very nice also.

It's been a great weekend. Lydia and Neil came round for dinner on Friday night and it was really good to catch up with them.

Ragani and Vanessa visited yesterday afternoon and after a couple of glasses of champagne we headed out for a girl's night - dinner and cocktails at Cubana. Yay! It was a fab night.

Big knickers

Daisy has been a right grumpy pants today so I thought it only fair that I post a picture of her in her pink polka dot knickers. Sorry Daisy! She didn't sleep very well all day and as a result was very grizzly and tired. It was a bit of a tough day but she made up for it all just before she went to bed with a huge snuggly hug. Ahhh. The bedtime screaming seems to have stopped as well. Phew!

I was meant to be going out tonight but a couple of people were sick (not bird flu I hope!) so we are going to reschedule. Andy has gone to the pub instead. Hmmm, I think I got gyped!

Comfy perch

Daisy was very pleased to get the opportunity to sit on Andy's shoulders. She flopped over his head very relaxed and almost fell asleep.

It was our weekly NCT coffee catch up yesterday. All the babies are looking older and are much more smiley and interactive. They are all developing and changing so much week by week that it's quite scary.

Daisy is still going to bed at 7.30pm but the last few nights she has been having a short but intense screaming session after her bedtime story, just before going to sleep. It's a bit distressing but there doesn't actually seem to be anything wrong with her. Maybe it's just her way of releasing a bit of energy. On the plus side, she has slept until 7am rather than 6.30am the last couple of mornings. Yay!

Sleepyhead

Andy and I proved that parenthood has slowed us down by turning down the opportunity of a fourth night out on Saturday to stay home and play Trivial Pursuit instead. Actually, I struggled to manage four nights out in a row even before Daisy so maybe it's just getting old.

My uncle and aunt, John and Doreen visited on Sunday and it was great to see them and show Daisy off. She was in a bit of a grump but managed a few smiles. I think she wasn't feeling too well all day as she was also very hard to get to sleep last night but she seems to be in much better form today.

Julia left today so we saw her off at the station this morning. This afternoon we went out for coffee and Daisy is now playing on her playmat. Well, she's meant to be playing on her playmat but she is actually slyly watching MTV upside down. Can't say I blame her though, it's A-Z of the 80's. Class. New Kids on the Block really got her little legs kicking.

Daisy confirmed my status as a slummy mummy by laughing when she saw me wearing make-up on Thursday night. Cheers Daisy.

We met Fen and Ricky for dinner at Mildred's in Soho on Thursday night. It was very nice as usual. Last night we left Julia in charge again (third night in a row!) and met Ragani, Carlene, Vanessa, Glenn and Dave at the Box Bar for a few drinks.

It's been great to get out and feel a bit like normal people this week. Apart from Thursday when Daisy had to have a 7pm bottle we've headed out once she's gone to bed so we aren't feeling too guilty about abandoning her. She is still being great at night. She goes to bed at 7.30 and is normally happy to go in to her cot after being read a story in her bouncey chair. We give her a bottle at 11.30pm which she barely wakes for then she sleeps again until 6.30am. What a good little girl.
